May Monthly Meeting – May 2 – Amateur Astronomy: Where to Begin?

Join us on Thursday May 2 at 8pm for our next club monthly meeting (members of the general public welcome)!

This month’s presentation is for all levels of ability, but aimed primarily at beginner enthusiasts who wish to get out in the night sky with some knowledge, skills and equipment in hand. Topics include naked eye, binocular and telescope observing, along with information about how binoculars and telescopes work. We will also look at apps that will assist in finding celestial bodies and how to star hop.

Feel free to bring along your binoculars and/or telescope for some one-on-one assistance. But,
most importantly, bring with you questions that you have wanted to ask about observing.

N.B. Before the talk we will have Board Business and a short discussion about the April 8 Eclipse.

Club meetings are held at the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 551 79 Hamilton Street North Waterdown, ON. Doors for the public portion of the meeting will open at 7:00pm where we will be making solar eclipse glasses available to attendees.
