Chris is an avid amateur astronomer who, according to many, five years ago bought the wrong type of telescope for astrophotography. Not one to listen to criticism, public consensus, or reason, Chris proceeded to build his astrophotography rig on a wedge, a Celestron 6SE he calls Nomad.
Chris has spent the last five years experimenting with astrophotography using alt-azimuth mounts on wedges. He has tried to demystify the process and help people understand the principles of wedge-based astronomy and astrophotography, including setting up your wedge, polar alignment, and guiding. Whether tackling challenging targets from his Bortle 8 back yard, or taking his telescopes on the road for some adventure astrophotography, Chris has learned a lot about the pros and cons of these types of setups.
