RASC Hamilton will be hosting a Sidewalk Astronomy event – Wednesday February 15th from 7pm-9pm @ Spencer Smith Park (location noted on map)
Astrospheric predicts favourable conditions and temperatures. (This can change at a moment’s notice) Stay tuned to our social media for final Go/No Go at 2pm on Wednesday.
If you have a scope and want to learn how to use it, one of our volunteers can help you.
General Guidelines:
-All are welcome on the fundamental principle that astronomy is for everyone with respect, dignity and safety.
-Experienced astronomers should take note that public astronomy sessions are based on the principles of sidewalk astronomy and to expect visitors to use their equipment.
-Dress for ten degrees below the expected temperature minimum.
-Before using a telescope, make sure someone is supervising it to make sure it is on target. Only touch or operate a telescope with permission.
-We may stay longer pending interest and weather conditions.
-There is no electricity supplied at this time (subject to change).
-Noise levels should be minimal as this is a public space near residences.
-There is plenty of parking in the area
-We will meet at the location marked on the map for observing
