March Book Review – The Artemis Missions

This month, club librarian Bruce Murray reviewed The Artemis Missions by Patrick Stakem.

“The Artemis Missions” by Patrick Stakem is an informative book that provides an overview of NASA’s plans to establish a sustainable human presence on the Moon through its Artemis program. This book is surprisingly small at 52 pages.

The book begins with an introduction to the history of lunar exploration and the motivations behind NASA’s decision to return to the Moon. Stakem then delves into the details of the
Artemis program, explaining the various components of the mission, including the Space Launch System (SLS), Orion spacecraft, Gateway space station, and lunar lander.

Overall, Bruce was disappointed with the level of detail provided as only pages 17 thru 27 are specifically about the Artemis Mission.
